Old Vic Pen Pal Network

How are you getting on? I’ve just come back from furlough and catching up with things here at The Old Vic. We’ve started a new programme that I thought some of your members at Southwark Carers might be interested in.

To keep connected during these times we’ve created an OV Pen Pal Network, connecting over 60’s with primary school students where they share letters and are set a creative challenge every two weeks.

On sign up participants will be asked some simple questions including name, postal address/email address and how they would like to be contacted. They will also need to agree to the terms and conditions of the programme including our safeguarding requirements.

They will then be matched with a student from one of our partner primary schools and will receive a letter or email (depending on preference) from their OV Pen Pal once every two weeks. We will be helping communication by setting weekly creative challenges for both participants to complete and share with each other, either by email, or letter, via the school.

Your members can sign up via the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/G35S5XN

We are aware that some people may not have access to email and can expand this to include phone calls and posted letters if preferred. Friends, family and carers are able to sign up on someone’s behalf and we can also call anyone who doesn’t have access to online through any avenue. Are you in regular contact with your community members at the moment? How is everyone doing?

Look forward to hearing from you and hope you are keeping well.

Best wishes,

Kate
