The post holder will develop and manage a service working with volunteer Lay Visitors who will ensure that the views of residents living in care homes for older people in Southwark regarding their quality of life are heard and shared.

In the first instance the work will involve supporting the volunteers to undertake mostly telephone-based or online meetings with residents of the Care Homes and their families/carers to help LB Southwark assess whether its homes meet the standards of the Residential Care Charter.

This service has been run in the past with a focus on visiting care homes, prior to the Covid19 pandemic. The service needs reviewing and refreshing to take the impact of Covid19 into account including developing safe ways of working. The service review will also involve reviewing the training needs of the Lay Visitors and their management needs.

Please note: this will be a fixed term contract running until 31/3/2021. The service and the Service Lead role will be reviewed prior to 1/4/2021 in partnership with LB Southwark, the funder.
