The Role of Mental Imagery

About this Event

In a visual learning-focused session, learning Coach Olive Hickmott will talk about her passion to alleviate and prevent much of the confusion that threatens to overwhelm students.

Olive will explain how teachers and parents of children under 7 years old need to incorporate visualisation into many forms of teaching and learning, especially literacy and numeracy.

A Dyslexic herself, Olive recalls ‘nobody showed me how to use my visual brain for literacy – something that has affected my entire life. I call myself a reformed dyslexic, because I struggled in school with literacy, long before dyslexia was commonly understood in schools. Had I been born later, I would probably have been labelled dyslexic. I have subsequently learned for myself those vital missing skills that have in turn inspired my efforts to help others.’

While the under 7’s are highly attuned to learning these skills, they can be developed for everyone at any age.

She has published 7 books, 3 on the mysteries and secrets of visual learning; Seeing Spells Achieving, Bridges to Success and most recently The Elephants in the Classroom. She has trained 100s of people worldwide in Empowering Learning skills.
