The National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has made new recommendations for psychosis and schizophrenia care in adults. These are based on all the latest evidence on what really works for people affected by psychosis and schizophrenia.
Rethink created an ‘at a glance’ guide to the new recommendations - find out more below!
NICE is the organisation responsible for producing guidelines on health conditions. These guidelines contain recommendations for better care based on all the latest evidence. Although health and social care services don’t have to follow these recommendations, they are important for showing what works best.
Rethink are really pleased that the new guideline on psychosis and schizophrenia focuses on issues that our members have been campaigning on. This includes clear recommendations on physical healthcare, better access to services and support for carers.
Rethink Mental Illness has a range of factsheets on topics covered by the new guideline, such as early intervention teams, medication and carer assessments. You can download these free at www.rethink.org/factsheets.
Rethink also have physical health resources, such as our Good Health guide and physical health flyer.
The full guideline and further information on NICE is available from the NICE website.
