Nominate your Health Hero

Skills for Health arelooking for those extra-special people who put patient care first, strive to keep their team motivated and are true heroes to the healthcare sector.

Working with the National Skills Academy for Health and in partnership with UNISON, the Our Health Heroes Awards have been created to acknowledge the significant contribution made by the support workforce, those who play a crucial role in delivering patient care on the front line.

The awards follow on from the success of the #OurHealthHeroes campaign we launched in February, encouraging all of you to share stories about how support workers are making a real difference.

The aim of the Our Health Heroes awards is to celebrate the 798,600 people across the UK health sector who work in roles such as healthcare assistants, assistant practitioners, porters, cleaners, caterers, maintenance workers and administrative staff, by encouraging colleagues, team leaders and supervisors to share their stories and give them the recognition they deserve.

We’ve teamed up with UNISON to launch the awards, the public sector union, which represents more than 1.3 million members and is the UK’s largest union representing health workers, to tie into its One Team campaign, recognising the value of teamwork in the NHS.

Entrants can be nominated for one of two awards:

  • Clinical Support Worker of the Year
  • Operational Services Worker of the Year
