“My Support Choices”, the new portal for information and advice about adult social care and community services in Southwark was launched on 10 December at the John Harvard Library in Borough. The launch was attended by a group of service users, voluntary sector representatives, Susanna White, Sarah McClinton and Councillor Dora Dixon-Fyle. Those attending had the opportunity to see a demonstration of the system and then use it for themselves, and “My Support Choices†was very well received.
“My Support Choices†has two key components:
The system is key to support us in implementing new ways of working so that service users, carers, families and staff can easily access information on a wide range of support services. This will enable people to organise support that suits them and is best fitted to their individual needs and aspirations.
The site is easy to access and is user friendly. Social workers, support planners and other staff will be able to access the site to find information and advice to share with their clients, and should also encourage clients to make use of the site for themselves.
The council’s communications team will be publicising “My Support Choices†in Southwark Life magazine, providing leaflets to GP surgeries, and attending community council meetings to make sure that people are aware of the site and what it offers. The launch is also being supported by the libraries service, who offer support to people who want to learn more about using online services.
Thanks to all of you who helped shape the system and its contents. Special thanks to James McConnell who has led on the design and built the content of the system.
