Leaseholders on the Aylesbury Estate

Creation Trust will be writing to all the estates leaseholders over the next 2 weeks.  We are looking for information from leaseholders to help the developers bidding on the estate to come up with a variety of products and solutions to help with your move. Please look out for a questionnaire from us that will be posted and also available on line.  If you are a leaseholder and looking for support or information about the latest regeneration news please call us on 020 7703 8923. 3rd  Pop up shop opens
A group of local budding entrepreneurs is re-energising East Street Market by injecting fresh vibes and cutting edge fashion with the latest of the Creation Trust’s pop-up shops. The Lane SE17 is the third exciting business venture spearheaded by Creation Trust, who have been funded by part of the London Borough of Southwark’s £1m Community Restoration Fund. To read more click here If you think you have what it takes to open
 
Bursary Applications Success
Creation has just announced the recipients of our bursary program, to provide some financial support to those residents who are struggling to meet the costs of university or college. We received a number of applications, and we heard some inspiring stories of people going back into education to be able to offer greater chances to themselves and their families. To read more click here
 
Food for Thought
Every year Creation Trust organises a ‘dinner and debate’ event, bringing together local people, and representatives from the Council and other organisations, to discuss issues relating to the Aylesbury estate. This year at the event residents were asked to share their thoughts and ideas about public realm and community facilities. To find out more

Free one-day gardening course

For over 19s on 20th October at Walworth Garden Farm. Learn how to grow your own herbs! Meet: 1015am outside McDonalds on the Walworth Road (the farm is a short walk away) *Please bring a packed lunch or some money to buy lunch* The day will train you in the basics of gardening and will focus on growing herbs and other plants in your own home. Black History Month 2012: Celebration 1 to 31 October
Celebrating our heritage through film, literature, music, performance, exhibitions and sport. Celebration is the theme for Black History Month 2012. Incorporating the games, the Jubilee, and independence day celebrations, the programme aims to look at the influence of these celebrations in relation to black history/heritage and culture. To find out about events happening in Southwark click here.

Training Developing Inclusive Service to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans (LGBT) Service Users

Tuesday 9th October 10-1pm at Inspire, St Peter’s Church, Liverpool Grove, SE5, Just Off Walworth Road. This course will give you the basic skills, knowledge and understanding you need to work with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans (LGBT) service users. Overall this training will increase your awareness of the needs of LGBT people and how removing barriers to your service will create an environment which is more inclusive.
