Holocaust Memorial Day 2013

Southwark Council marks Holocaust Memorial Day 2013 with an act of remembrance in words and music, hosted by the Mayor of Southwark, Councillor Althea Smith.

Followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the Holocaust Memorial Tree and The Soviet War Memorial in the grounds of the Imperial War Museum (Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park).

Refreshments will be served from 10am, followed by the Holocaust Memorial Day ceremony from 10.30am.

This year’s theme is “Communities together build a bridge” and the keynote speaker is Baroness Julia Neuberger DBE, Senior Rabbi at The West London Synagogue.

Holocaust Survivor, Avram Schaufeld, will also speak.

The ceremony is expected to conclude at 11.30am, at which point a procession to The Imperial War Museum will be led by standard bearers including members of The Royal British Legion.

The Holocaust Memorial Day 20131 will take place on the 27th January between 10:00 – 12:30.

Venue: The Amigo Hall, in the grounds of St George’s RC Cathedral, 33 Westminster Bridge Road, London SE1 7JB.
