Who Cares in Southwark?Campaign 2008
As part of Carers Week we will be running an awareness campaign – Who Cares In Southwark? amongst the communities of Southwark, health service and local authority staff and others to help them identify who cares in Southwark.
The campaign will include new posters and leaflets for display in GP surgeries, pharmacies, council buildings as well as other community venues and local businesses, adverts in local press and other activities.
The campaign is an update of a similar campaign Southwark Carers ran some years ago and proved successful then in encouraging statutory services to acknowledge the existence of carers and helped carers themselves to come forward and approach services for recognition and support.
This time we hope that Who Cares In Southwark? will reach further into the communities across the Borough and encourage some of the hidden carers that few or no services are in contact with to identify themselves as carers and to make sure that they know that support is available to them should they need it.
In addition to the posters we will be offering pin-badges featuring our carers logo, so that those who are a carer or who support carers locally can wear one on their lapel to publicly acknowledge their support for our campaign and for Southwark Carers. These new badges will be available from Carers Week onwards.

The campaign will start during Carers Week but we expect that it will last during the summer so that by the end of August a significant amount of people have seen the posters and leaflets, read about carers in other organisations newsletters, seen adverts in the press or be wearing one of our new badges.
You will be able to get copies of the poster and leaflet from late May onwards by contacting us on 020 7708 4101 or email. Our badges and key-rings can only be made available directly through Southwark Carers offices and events, as we will be looking for a donation of £1 for each badge.
