Join CoolTan Arts for a unique Summer Solstice Midnight walk, explore the urban psycho-geography of South London, and learn about local history and familiar landmarks in a light you have never seen them before.
CoolTan Arts Largactyl Shuffle is a guided cultural walk, designed to encourage mental and physical well being, through art, exercise, humor and history, and de-stigmatizing mental health. Along the way walkers are given the sort of information you won’t find in guidebooks – site specific insights into, for instance, the time when Charlie Chaplin’s mum was sent to the asylum for being a single parent; or a fresh take on the development of the technology behind the ECG brain scan.
Participate in this unique procession from the powerhouse Tate Modern to the madhouse and home of contemporary psychiatry, the Maudsley Hospital. Walkers meet at 12midnight at the main entrance of Tate Modern and finish the walk in the wee hours of Sunday at the Maudsley Hospital where we’ll have a restroom to relax after the walk.
The walk is free, but voluntary contributions would be appreciated to help the work of the charity to organize future walks. Feel free to bring sandwiches, tea, coffee for the route.
Additional Information
