Young Carers

A young carer is a child or young person (up to 18 years) who provides care for a sick or disabled relative (adult or child) at home.

You may not think of yourself as a "carer".

Here are some questions to ask yourself. If you can say yes to any of these questions, you are a carer and can get information and support. You are not alone.

Do you live with someone who has:

  • A long term disability or illness?
  • A drug or alcohol problem?
  • Do you take time off school to look after them?
  • Do you feel like you cannot go out like other kids because you look after someone at home?

The links below will take you to organisations that can help -
