Black
and Minority Ethnic Carers
Southwark
is one of the most ethnically diverse areas of Britain. In this section
is a list of some of the services and organisations which support black
and minority ethnic communities, e.g. by providing translation/interpretation
services or culturally sensitive material.
Many
of the general organisations listed elsewhere on the site may provide
factsheets and other material in a number of languages and it is worth
asking them.
Council
and health services
The health
and local authorities have a responsibility to provide services that
cater for black and minority ethnic communities, such as translators,
ethnic specific meals-on-wheels and culturally sensitive personal care.
If you have specific needs you should make them clear with the department
you are dealing with.
